They included installation artists, performance artists and speakers in the conference. The Gallery provided an extensive program of hospitality which included an artists' retreat. Many of the artists' visits were made possible by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as well as private sponsors. Visiting artists were involved in a program of performances and talks for conference delegates and the general public. An artists' night was organised and attended by members of the arts I community, local artists, conference delegates and the visiting artists, which was held on 19 September 1993. Artists who attended the exhibition were also involved in an extensive program of visits, talks, lectures and performances in liaison with other institutions and organisations around Australia, including the Adelaide Festival; Canberra Contemporary Art Space; Queensland College of Art, Griffith University; Perc Tucker Regional Gallery (Townsville); Stanthorpe Art Gallery; Museum of Contemporary Art (Sydney); School of Art, University of South07 Australia; Australian Sculpture Triennial (Melbourne); Artspace-41 (Sydney); Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (Melbourne); zd University of Tasmania Fine Arts Gallery; Northern Territory Centre of Contemporary Art; 24 Hour Art Centre (Darwin); Sydney College of Art; and Canberra School of Art, Australian National University. Visiting artists worked with Gallery staff and local artists to complete large scale installations, attended the conference, gave public artists' talks and performances.
