"Botanical Gardens, Glasgow"—MUIRHEAD BONE (1876- ). I t h a s long been t h e custom t o lend to British Galleries paintings, pieces of Landscape pa i n t e r and etcher. Studied as a n architect sculpture, a n d o t h e r works o f a r t n o t exhibited i n t h e Na t i o n a l Galleries a n d in Glasgow, bu t a f t e rwa r ds devoted himself to pa i n t i ng and Museums. Th e result of t h i s co-operation h a d been so satisfactory t h a t i t wa s felt etching. I s regarded by ma n y a s t h e leading British draughts- in m a n y q u a r t e r s t h a t a n effort should be ma d e to extend t h e service to British man. Wa s t he official w a r a r t i s t on t he western f r o n t and with Dominions beyond t h e seas, a n d wh e n i t w a s f o u n d t h a t legal difficulties we r e i n t he Br i t i sh Fleet 1916-1918. Spent some months in Italy. I n 1859 sailed f o r New Zealand and made a success a t sheep farming, r e t u r ned to Eng l and in 1863 and began t o study a r t .
