ACKNOWLEDGMENT. This Exhibition of Early British Watercolours arranged ./ S. through the Empire Art Loan Exhibitions Society for exhibition in Australia has been assembled to illustrate the development of the Art of watercolour painting from approximately 1750 to 1850. It is the most important exhibition of its kind to come to our shores, and should prove of great interest and educational value. The Exhibition contains a number of first class examples by the great watercolourists of the period, as well as a selection of representative works by the lesser known masters. On behalf of the Australian Interstate Galleries I wish to express our appreciation and thanks to His Majesty the King for graciously lending two works from the Royal Collection at Windsor; and to those many Galleries and Museums throughout N o . 5 " S T U D Y O F T R E E S " Alexander Cozens England who have so generously lent their works and made this Exhibition possible to the people of Australia.
