I n 1851 h e w e n t t o Adelaide, where h e painted a view o f t h e for H e n r y Palmer, coachbuilder, as a n artist a n d armorial painter. Painted fish, fruit a n d g a m e subjects, capital, looking easy from t h e west e n d o f Hindley Street, with t h e M o u n t Lofty R a n g e i n t h e distance, a which h e sold t o the hotels in Ho b a r t . His drawings show a good sense o f scale, topographical accuracy, b u t little feeling for t h e Australian flora, which is stylized i n a picturesque a n d fanciful way.
