EXHIBITION OF BRITISH WATER-COLOURS 1914 - 1953 FOREWORD This exhibition of British Water-colours is the third of a series covering the history and development of this typically British art. Comprehensive in character, it contains selected examples of the work of all important painters of the past forty years. Since the turn of the century, and particularly during the last decade, there has been a renaissance of British romantic art, and this is reflected in the work of the outstanding artists, who have again made water-colour a singularly expressive medium. We are indeed grateful to the Empire Art Loan Exhibitions Society for arranging the exhibition and to the many owners and artists who have made it possible by generously lending their pictures. I feel sure it will prove of the greatest interest and educational value to artists and public alike. ROBERT CAMPBELL, Regional Director for Australia, E.A.L.E.S. STEWART MACLENNAN, Regional Director for New Zealand.
