A& 141 PER I CLE FAZZINI: Screaming Ma n (1952) CORRADO CAGLI Born at Ancona 1910; lives in Rome. He took part in many Italian and foreign exhibitions, making his flame through his versatile imagina- tion and independent personality. At first his painting remained within the "Novecento " trend. After having lived in America for approxi- mately eight years, on his return to Italy, he revealed in his work a far greater variety of artistic interests. He did murals in mosaic, fresco and the encaustic technique. His work can be found in the principal Italian and foreign art museums 4 1 T H E SHI ELD O F TANCREDI (1952) 4 2 GUATEMALAN MARKET (1955) 4 3 AGR I CULTURAL MOTIFS (1955) DOMENICO CANTATORE Born at Ruvo di Puglia ( B a n ) 1906; lives in Milan. Professor of painting at the Brera Academy, he was awarded several important marks of recognition at various Italian and foreign exhibitions. His painting, which in the past tended towards the "Novecento," afterwards gained recognition for a more personal style which also brought to mind such masters as Modigliani and Picasso 4 4 THE DRESSING ROOM (1948) 4 5 F I GURE (1947) GIUSEPPE CAPOGROSSI GUARNA Born in Rome 1900; lives in Rome. He took part in many Italian and foreign exhibitions. His work can be seen in national and foreign museums. After residence in Paris, he returned to Italy and formed the "Roman Group" together with Mafai, Cagli and Cavalli, in which the "tonalistic" formula predominated. During the last decade he has turned towards abstract painting 4 6 SURFACE ( 1 9 5 3 ) , PRINT 4 7 SURFACE 22 (195 1) Collection Ghiringhelli, Milan BRUNO CASSINARI Born at Piacenza 1912; lives in Milan. He is amongst the most repre- sentative painters of that generation before the first world war, and, as such, his artistic style was formed in the expressionist school; he later joined the Milan "Corrente" group which had flourished during the last decade. He also took part in the shows of the "New Art Front.' Without giving up the personal character of his conception and style, Cassinari has shown a decided leaning during these last ten years towards abstraction.
