Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, 1993 : Exhibition report

Performance bv Lee Bui: Sunday 19 September. 7.15 p.m. Lee Bui penetrates the self-consciousness of the feminist ego through her powerful and often beautiful sculptural work and more recently through installation and performance. Her work features irony, humour, aggression, strength, a sense of kitsch and energetic positiveness through a mastery of diverse materials. Fish combines an assortment of images and objects borrowed from popular culture, demonstrating her successful blending of new materials, media and behaviour. Performance plays an integral role in the expressive power of Lee Bui’s work, and has earned her a significant reputation in South Korea, as a most unusual and inventive performance artist.
