The 10th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art 10 For more than 25 years, the Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT) has transformed the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), fearlessly presenting some of the most exciting, inspiring and important works from around Australia and our region. The Queensland Government is a founding supporter of this innovative exhibition series, viewed by more than 3.7 million visitors over the past nine editions. Most recently, APT9 alone attracted 718 000 visits, contributing almost $35 million to Queensland’s economy and generating more than 288 000 visitor nights. The Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art is unique among recurring contemporary art exhibitions, and its geographic focus and cross-cultural awareness foster exceptional opportunities for cultural tourism and community development. The arts are also a key to delivering our plan for economic recovery from COVID-19, each year contributing $8.5 billion to the state’s economy and supporting more than 92 000 jobs for Queenslanders. That is why the Queensland Government is supporting APT10 with blockbuster exhibition funding and featuring it on Tourism and Events Queensland’s It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar. Visitors will again be amazed by APT’s tenth chapter, showcasing projects with new and recent work by more than 100 emerging and established artists, collectives and filmmakers from more than 30 countries. APT10 features major new works by artists Kaili Chun (Kanaka Ōiwi, Hawai‘i), Gordon Hookey (Waanyi people, Australia), Kimiyo Mishima (Japan), Salote Tawale (Fiji/Australia) and a collaborative work by Grace Lillian Lee and Ken Thaiday Snr (Meriam Mir people, Australia). The Queensland Government is implementing Creative Together 2020–2030: A 10-Year Roadmap for arts, culture and creativity in Queensland . APT10 will contribute to Creative Together ’s priorities, including to elevate First Nations arts, share our stories and celebrate our storytellers.
