The Second Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, Brisbane, Australia, 1996 : Report

CONSERVATION The Gallery's Conservation Section have indicated that their involvement with the Second Triennial was far less than encountered during the First Triennial. The reason is essentially that as a result of experiences associated with the previous Triennial, the Conservation Section strongly recommended that all painting stretchers travel with the stretched or un-stretched works. Conservation staff were then only required to re-stretch the works on existing frames rather than co-ordinate the making and stretching of the works onto new frames. This simple procedure greatly eased the demands on this Section and facilitated a smooth operation. An additional Conservation Staff member was engaged to assist the Section during the preparatory and installation period for two weeks prior to the opening of the exhibition. 1 0
