The Second Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, Brisbane, Australia, 1996 : Report

An inspiring, exciting collection of work from the region . A refreshing break from Euro-American domination . Congratulations to the curators! PS Nilima Sheikh installation would be a wonderful Gallery purchase - as would numerous other pieces. We loved it and our 3 year old art lover loved it even more . It's refreshing to come and see serious, large art works with 'a sense of humour' . Julia, Fairfield, Brisbane I liked the ants display, the bed of roses with needles in it. The glass dome displayed a very interesting concept of world peace. Macgregor High School It was g reat to see the focus taken away from typical two dimensional paintings and drawings towards th ree dimensional art works. An absolutely breath-taking exhibition - particularly the sculpture and installation work. The observers interactive pieces are really helping to include the viewer into the art, creating an experience instead of just looking. The Triennial brings a high and fulfilling standard to that experience. Very interesting and enlightening. FANTASTIC! ! ! It was exciting and very educational. It was GREAT! The most innovative show I have seen in a long time. Congratulations Anne Came ron, Toronto, Canada I think the exhibition was good as it has so many people think. This is demonstrated in all the comments made in this book. Very mentally stimulating. Well done QAG . Queensland College of Art student I have never been to an art gallery and didn't think it would be that good but I had a g reat time. The art works were brilliant.. . . ! had a great time. Emma Kate and Anna (of Somerville House) really appreciated the chance to visit this wonderful exhibition. We will return soon because of the pleasure it gave us. See you soon . Good to see it here in Brisbane. This was an exquisite show, I wish Seattle was as open-minded and obtained such i nteresting pieces more often - They've re-inspired me!
