PUBLICATIONS To accompany the Second Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, the Queensland Art Gallery p roduced a major exhibition catalogue, three catalogue supplements, a Resource Kit and contributed to two internationally distributed art journal supplements. Catalogue The 1 52 page, full colour exhibition catalogue introduces and illustrates the work of all artists in the Second Triennial and discusses a wide range of issues facing contemporary artists curators and critics in the Asia-Pacific region . The Gallery commissioned seventy-seven international and Australian writers to contribute essays in the various sections of the catalogue. The involvement of such a large number of established and younger writers from the Asia-Pacific region has resulted in this publication becoming a unique resource not only for its intellectual value but also for the diversity of approaches and interpretations expressed. The catalogue is divided i nto four sections: 1 . Essays: Written by leading art scholars and discussing general artistic and cultural issues in the Asia-Pacific region. Curatorial essays: Written by cu ratorial team members and focusing on the curatorial process and the art of specific regions. Writers include, in sequential order, Rhana Devenport (Australia), Fumio Nanjo (Japan), Caroline Tu rner (Australia) , Claire Roberts (Australia) , Oscar Ho Hing Kay (Hong Kong), Pat Hoffie (Australia), David Williams (Australia), Young Mok Chung (South Korea), Alison Carroll (Australia), Victoria Lynn (Australia) , Ian Howard (Australia), Julie Ewington (Australia) , Anne Kirker (Australia), Timothy Morrell (Australia) , Simon Elliott (Australia), David Burnett (Australia), Susan Cochrane (Australia) and Margo Neale (Australia) . 3 . Artists: Written by fifty-nine national and international writers, this section introduces and illustrates the work of each participating artist or collective , in i ndividual essays. 4. Artists' biographies: Artists' portraits and selected biographical i nformation. The catalogue has been very well received by both the arts community and the public. It complements the publications associated with the First Asia-Pacific Triennial and offers insights i nto the more recent cultural developments in the region. The catalogue retails at $25 .00 and sales have been outstanding with 2 ,294 sold to date . 43
