KIDS' APT OVERVI EW A new and h ighly popular component of the APT project was Kids' APT. This innovative program of activities and d isplays , called Kids' APT, was curated and presented specifically for a young audience. Comprising works specifically comm issioned from APT3 artists for children aged 3-1 2 years, Kids' APT also featured special labels designed for you nger aud iences, gu ided tours, an activity book, workshops and a Website. Designed for an age group from 3 - 1 2 years, Kids' APT aims to create meaningful interactions between ch ildren and contemporary art works and to increase awareness of Asian and Pacific cultures and societies . The program attracted large audience numbers and received very positive responses from teachers, parents and ch ildren. · Lucky Dragon + Label s The Lucky Dragon is t he Kids' APT mascot, and his image identifies t he various components of Kids' APT. For instance, the Lucky Dragon appears on specially written labels instal led adjacent to selected art works throughout the exhibition . These labels are written to enhance children's enjoyment and understanding of art works . Kids' APT Activity Book The activity book features lots of interesting and educational ideas that will del ight and captivate children . Available from the Gallery Store, the activity book directs ch ildren to selected works where their imaginations are stimulated with drawing and writing activities . Kids' Activity Space A major feature of the Kid's APT is the inclusion of a Kids' Activity Space with in the exh ibition . This area provides the opportun ity for hands-on creative interaction with art works specially created by a selection of APT artists. The artworks present a ran ge of d iffering art related experiences for children, including drawing fish , building a bridge, and writing with calligraphy. Workshops + Activities I nteractive d isplays and art making activities enhance the educational value of the exh ibition and ensure that ch ildren enjoy their visit to the Gallery. A program of ch ildren's activities and workshops will be conducted over the school hol iday periods and on weekends. The workshop program introduces kids to the traditional arts and cultures of the Asia-Pacific region . Kids' APT Website I n addition , a Kids' APT Website was accessible from both inside and outside the Gallery. The Website features information on the artists and countries represented withi n the exh ibition , and a Kid's Gallery which exh ibits d rawings posted to the Gallery by ch ildren .
