GALLERY STORE APT 2002 Gallery Store Merchandise, Wrapping Paper Set Gallery Store logo 2002 APT CATALOGUE Sales of the APT 2002 Catalogue as at the close of the Triennial on 27 January total 1,832 copies. This includes 100 copies sent to the Store’s distributor, Thames & Hudson for Australian distribution, and also 100 copies sent to IDEA books in Amsterdam who will be distributing world wide, predominantly in the USA and Europe. 2002 APT MERCHANDISE OVERVIEW A focused range of books on key APT 2002 artists were sourced from organisations such as the Guggenheim and MoMA in New York, and from TimeZone8 Books in Hong Kong. The focus for merchandise was to produce an accessible range of paper products featuring a selection of artists which was supplemented with higher value product sourced directly from participating artists. All the merchandise featured the APT 2002 branding. Postcards were produced for Lisa Reihana’s Digital Marae; Michael Riley’s, Cloud; Michael Ming Hong Lin’s, Gallery 5 wall, QAG 09.12.02 – 01.27.03 2002, Song Dong’s, Writing diary with water; Bug Master Kids’ APT; Yayoi Kusama’s, Narcissus garden and Song Dong’s, Stamping the water. Greeting card pack (6 cards x 2 each) was produced for a selection of Yayoi Kusama work. Single fold out greeting cards were produced for Michael Ming Hong Lin’s, Gallery 5 wall, QAG 09.12.02 – 01.27.03 2002 and Michael Riley’s, Cloud. Bookmarks were produced for the APT 2002 wallpaper pattern and Ming Hong Lin’s, Gallery 5 wall, QAG 09.12.02 – 01.27.03 2002. T-shirts (adult) were produced for Yayoi Kusama’s ‘Love Forever’ text. T-shirts (kids) were produced for APT 2002 Bug Master and the Pasifika Divas graphic. Hats were produced with the APT Bug Master logo. Stickers were produced with Pasifika Divas graphics. Button badges were produced with Yayoi Kusama’s ‘Love Forever’ text, APT 2002 Bug Master and Pasifika Divas. Giftwrap packs were produced with coloured paper featuring the APT 2002 wallpaper pattern. Children’s merchandise was featured strongly for the first time and included the Bug Master branding on accessible products such as postcard, button badge, sun hats and Bug Master pattern t-shirts. Kusama coloured dot stickers were also given away in the Gallery Store to children. Collaborations with artists included Yayoi Kusama to source and sell Kusama limited edition ceramics, multiples such as nail clippers and keychains as well as unlimited edition silver balls. Nam June Paik also provided a range of merchandise which was produced in collaboration with the Guggenheim such as coffee mugs, magnets and pens. A collaboration was also formed with local fashion designers, Lucid, to develop and produce concepts for APT t-shirts. POPULARITY One of the most popular merchandise items has been the mini Kusama Mirror Balls, a total of 1 758 balls have been sold at $5.95 each. Sales of the unlimited edition large Kusama Mirror Balls total 267 @ $50 each. The large unlimited edition silver balls were packed in clear carry cases designed specifically to showcase and protect the balls. The most popular postcard images were Song Dong’s Stamping the water , Yayoi Kusama’s Narcissus garden , and Michael Ming Hong Lin’s Gallery 5 wall, QAG 09.12.02 – 01.27.03 2002.
