Over 1 000 people attended keynote lectures and panel discussions with an average of approximately 180 to each session. Panel discussions introduced the themes that were central to the entire public programs focus throughout the exhibition. The first panel discussion, titled ‘Moving Image in the Asia-Pacific’, included: Chair: Julie Ewington  Johan Pijnappel, writer on contemporary art and deputy director/ co-curator of the World Wide Video Festival, Amsterdam.  Lisa Taouma, lecturer, curator and film maker, New Zealand.  Nalini Malani, APT 2002, India. The second panel discussion called ‘Who am we?’ was based around concepts of community and how individuality sustains itself amid the ever-changing mass consciousness of contemporary life and was. Panel members were asked to tell personal stories about their own work.
