PUBLIC PROGRAMS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE (AGE 13 TO 25) Heri Dono’s Wayang Puppet Workshop Polytoxic performance OVERVIEW The range of programs developed specifically for young people for ‘APT 2002’ were programmed in relation to the curatorial themes and artworks included in the exhibition and comprised artist talks, workshops, drop–in activities and experimental video screenings. More than 400 young people participated in these programs that were designed to establish connections between APT artists, local contemporary artists whose practice was linked to work in the exhibition and young people. The programs were promoted through the Gallery’s Preview publication’s Creative I Contemporary pages and featured on the new ‘youth site’ within the QAG website. ARTIST TALKS Artist Talk: Heri Dono 2.00pm Saturday 21 September APT 2002 artist Heri Dono presented an artist talk for young people. Gallery 6 Attendance: 37 Artist Talk: Craig Walsh 2.00pm Saturday 2 November Local multimedia artist Craig Walsh spoke on the theme of ‘Light, Time, Motion’, in response to work in APT 2002. Attendance: 16 SCREENINGS Short video screenings of works produced in APT 2002 New Media Workshops 2:00pm Thursday 12 December As an extension of the ‘Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art: APT 2002’, the Queensland Art Gallery organised a series of New Media Workshops run by artists Lisa Reihana, Heri Dono, Song Dong and Nalini Malani. These short video works are the results of the collaborations between the artists and their participants during the intensive four-day workshops in September 2002.
