APT 2002 Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, Brisbane, Australia : Report

*Findings sourced from a pool of 536 surveys conducted on visitors at the Gallery during the APT2002 (12.09.02– 26.01.03) and 1 447 feedback forms completed during Summer Spectacular (11.01.03–26.01.03). KEY FINDINGS 94.3% of all visitors were completely satisfied with their Gallery experience. (80% satisfaction is audience satisfaction target set in strategic plan) 24.1% were first time visitors to the Gallery. This is an increase from 26.34% for APT3. Key motivating factors to attend – 29.1%, word of mouth, 24.2% through the newspaper (including editorial and advertising). The impact of newspaper as a motivating factor to attend APT3 was 12.8%. 62.9% of visitors to APT 2002 had been to a previous APT. APT 2002 ATTENDANCES APT 2002 attracted an unprecedented number of visitors for a contemporary art exhibition at the Queensland Art Gallery. 221 237 people visited the exhibition during its 5-month duration. APT 2002 attracted over 65 000 more people than APT3 . Of the total attendance, 44 805 were children and 18 121 visited as part of a school group. 50 837 people visited APT 2002 during the Summer Spectacular festival.
