Kids' APT7 : In review
62 KIDS’ APT7 AT QAGOMA Indonesian artist collective Tromarama were inspired to make the moving-image work Wattt?! in response to receiving an unexpectedly high electricity bill. To explain the high cost, the artists entertained the idea that perhaps at night the lights came to life and held parties. This playful stop-motion animation is set in a typical living room where a desk lamp and a supporting cast of colourful lights create an illuminating performance. Gallery visitors viewed the film in a replica living room, complete with a pathway leading young filmgoers inside, echoing the film’s narrative of guests arriving at a party.
