Kids' APT7 : In review

71 KIDS’ APT7 PUBLISHING Published for Kids’ APT7, Hahan and Friends focused on the emerging Indonesian artist Hahan (Uji Handoko Eko Saputro). The richly illustrated book explores Hahan’s life and art and provides fun art-making activities for children to complete at home or at school. Throughout Hahan and Friends , young readers are invited to collaborate with Hahan and share his passion for comic- inspired art work. Hahan and Friends is the fifth children’s book published by the Children’s Art Centre and the first to focus solely on a contemporary Asian artist. The publication was a finalist for Best Designed Children’s Non-Fiction Book in the 2013 Australian Publishers Association’s 61st Annual Book Design Awards. HAHAN AND FRIENDS KIDS’ APT7 PUBLISHING Above: Hahan and Friends (2012) was developed in conjunction with Kids’ APT7 artist Hahan (Uji Handoko Eko Saputro) Left: Selected pages from Hahan and Friends 2012 I designed the Kids’ APT7 publication which featured life stories and art works by Hahan. His style of art really appealed to me; from conception through to production, this book was a complete joy to work on. It was such a pleasure to collaborate with Hahan, who is very humble about his incredible talent as an artist. When I first presented him with the finished book, his reaction reminded me how lucky I am to have the opportunity to work with artists in this way. Jenna Hoskin, Senior Graphic Designer
