APT8 kids in review

17 APT8 KIDS ON TOUR There is great enthusiasm and passion for the arts in regional Queensland communities and, since commencing in 2007, Kids on Tour has become a highly anticipated event for participating venues. Kids on Tour is designed to extend Children’s Art Centre programming to audiences from regional, remote and rural areas of Queensland, where long distance travel often precludes their involvement in programs held at QAGOMA. Between January and April 2016, a total of 64 venues, including galleries, community centres, schools and hospitals, hosted APT8 Kids on Tour, attracting a total of 7819 participants. APT8 Kids on Tour provided children and families with the opportunity to enjoy APT8 Kids at their local venue, and to explore contemporary art from Australia, Asia and the Pacific. APT8 Kids on Tour included drawing activities by Venkat Raman Singh Shyam and Yelena Vorobyeva and Viktor Vorobyev, a making activity by Rosanna Raymond, a multimedia activity by UuDam Tran Nguyen and a video work by Richard Bell. Venues were also provided with activities from the Children’s Art Centre publication Draw, Make, Create: APT8 Kids , developed in collaboration with exhibiting artists Pushpa Kumari, Gerelkhuu Ganbold and Sharon Chin. The success of Kids on Tour would not have been possible without the assistance of the Gallery’s Learning (Regional Services) team and the hardworking staff and volunteers at each venue who helped facilitate the program across the state.
