She uses her art to draw attention to the state of education in Myanmar, particularly in rural areas, to inspire change. For APT8 Kids, Nge Lay facilitated two drawing workshops in Myanmar where children created pictures to celebrate the importance of family. The first workshop was held at a school in the Mhaw Bi Township and the second was conducted in a child rehabilitation centre in the Mahu Township, both located in Yangon Division. The drawings created by the children in the second workshop were quite different to those from the first and often do not feature any people. Collectively, the drawings provided interesting insights into the different lives of these two groups of children. Drawings by children from Calamvale Special School and Redcliffe Special School in Queensland were exchanged with the children in Myanmar. Family is part of an ongoing APT project that connects children from different cultures around the world through drawing. The teachers and students feel very privileged to have been asked to participate in this project. Teacher comment, Calamvale Special School (Queensland participant)
