Sand drawing is an important way of sharing information, stories and songs in some parts of Vanuatu. The drawer creates an intricate image by tracing an unbroken line in the sand. For the exhibition, the artist invited children to complete a drawing template based on a traditional yam design from the island of Vao called Na Ghimbo . Grown and eaten throughout the year, the yam is a symbol of the cycle of life and important ceremonies are performed to celebrate the yam harvest. They had loads of fun and [want] to come back for another visit. Visitor comment
