Their artworks are known for their distinctive patterns and vibrant colours depicting the natural and spiritual worlds. For APT8 Kids, Gond artist Venkat Raman Singh Shyam presented a drawing activity for children based on Gond art patterns and the traditional story, The Woman and the Parrot . Young visitors were encouraged to learn about the meaning and significance of the different patterns featured in the activity — a wavy line representing water, the air and the sky; a semicircle representing community; and a curved live representing life. The joy on their faces and the way in which they wanted to be involved pleased me greatly. Teacher comment
