60 APT8 KIDS ARTWORKS AND PROJECTS Above/Right: Visitors taking part in Yelena Vorobyeva and Viktor Vorobyev I Prefer... 2015 YELENA VOROBYEVA AND VIKTOR VOROBYEV I PREFER . . . 2015 Yelena Vorobyeva and Viktor Vorobyev create new ways of looking at the world by adding to, or altering, everyday objects. In I Prefer Watermelons 2002, the artists make green tomatoes look like watermelons by painting them with black stripes. Drawing inspiration from this work, which was displayed in the Children’s Art Centre, the artists invited visitors to APT8 Kids to be creative and transform a paper fruit or vegetable template into something completely different using coloured pens and their imaginations. It’s great to be able to engage with art rather than just admire from a distance. It allows children and adults to unleash their hidden creativity. Visitor comment
