Ultimately they understand that they too can be artists. Visitor comment My grandson has been back three times and done multiple Rainbow Stags. Visitor comment JAKKAI SIRIBUTR THE LEGEND OF THE RAINBOW STAG 2018 Jakkai Siributr’s textile and embroidery works address Thailand’s unofficial histories, including the troubled coexistence of Buddhism and Islam in the south of the country. Through his practice, Siributr encourages the values associated with Buddhism — compassion, kindness and tolerance. For APT9 Kids, Siributr was inspired by his mother’s passion for children’s literature and shared her story The Rainbow Stag . The story was brought to life in an animation narrated by the artist and featured his version of this magnificent animal. Children could create their own personalised animation by embellishing a stag template and scanning the image. Siributr also facilitated workshops in Thailand where children illustrated and then embroidered scenes from The Rainbow Stag for display in the Children’s Art Centre. These workshops were conducted as part of an ongoing APT project that connects children across the world through drawing.
