APT9 kids in review

5 THANK YOU FROM QAGOMA The Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art’s highly ambitious Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT) series brings significant art from across Asia, the Pacific and Australia to Brisbane. Presented in both QAG and GOMA, ‘The 9th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art’ (APT9) included more than 400 works by over 80 individuals, collectives and groups, presenting a unique mix of creativity and cross-cultural insight. To complement APT9, the Gallery’s Children’s Art Centre worked with exhibiting artists to develop eight specially commissioned projects for children and family audiences. The projects — including immersive installations, interactive artworks, hands-on and multimedia activities — highlighted the importance of community, storytelling, revisiting histories and the preciousness of life and natural resources for the Gallery’s youngest visitors. APT9 Kids featured works by Sadik Kwaish Alfraji (Iraq/The Netherlands), Pauline Kimei Anis (Autonomous Region of Bougainville), Gary Carsley (Australia/The Netherlands), Nona Garcia (The Philippines), Joyce Ho (Taiwan), Vincent Namatjira (Western Arrernte people, Australia), Jakkai Siributr (Thailand) and Tungaru: The Kiribati Project (Jeff Smith) (Aotearoa New Zealand). THANK YOU FROM THE QAGOMA EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT TEAM Left: A child enjoying Joyce Ho’s UN-Covered Library 2018 APT9 and APT9 Kids would not have been possible without the valued commitment of the Gallery’s supporters. In particular we would like to sincerely thank Tim Fairfax AC, Gina Fairfax and the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation. This incredibly generous support enabled the Gallery to commission a diverse range of creative projects for young visitors, publish Ali’s Boat , the Gallery’s eleventh book for children, and provide thousands of families across Queensland with the opportunity to participate in our largest Kids on Tour program to date, which brought select APT9 Kids activities to 111 venues throughout the state. Executive Management Team, QAGOMA
