214 CONTRIBUTING AUTHORS Julie Ewington is Curatorial Manager, Australian Art at Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art, specialising in contemporary Australian art. She previously held curatorial positions at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, and Canberra School of Art Gallery, and has taught art history in Australian universities. Ewington has contributed to numerous Gallery projects since 1996, including the Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art; was lead curator on ‘Contemporary Australia: Optimism’, 2008; and curated the 2005 exhibition ‘The Art of Fiona Hall’, she also wrote Fiona Hall — a monograph on the artist’s work. Marcia Langton, AM , is a descendant of the Yiman and Bidjara nations and was born and raised in Queensland. She holds the Chair of Australian Indigenous Studies at the University of Melbourne and was awarded a PhD from Macquarie University in 2005 for her study of a customary Aboriginal land tenure system of eastern Cape York. She is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences of Australia, a member of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies and the Chair of the Cape York Institute for Policy and Leadership. Emily Maguire is the author of three novels and two non-fiction books — Princesses & Pornstars: Sex, Power, Identity (2008) and the revised edition for teenagers YourSkirt’s too Short: Sex, Power, Choice (2010). Her articles and essays on sex, feminism and literature have been published widely including in The Australian , The Monthly and The Age . She is the recipient of the 2007 Edna Ryan Award for her writing about women’s issues and, in 2010, was named the Sydney Morning Herald Young Novelist of the Year. Jennifer Mills is the author of the novels Gone and The Diamond Anchor . A collection of her short stories, The Rest is Weight , will be published by UQP in 2012. She was the winner of the 2008 Marian Eldridge Award for Young Emerging Women Writers, the Pacific Region of the 2008–09 Commonwealth Short Story Competition, and the 2008 Northern Territory Literary Awards: Best Short Story. Her work has appeared in Meanjin , Hecate , Heat , Griffith Review , Best Australian Stories and New Australian Stories , and she is a regular contributor to New Matilda and Overland . Margaret Pomeranz, AM , is one of the most celebrated figures in the Australian film industry, having worked as a producer, screenwriter and television film critic. She established The Movie Show for SBS television with David Stratton in 1986, which they fronted until 2004. During that time Margaret was Executive Producer with SBS for such programs as Front Up , Subsonics , the AFI Awards and the If Awards . In 2004, Margaret and David moved to the ABC where they have been presenting At the Movies ever since. They celebrated 25 years of on-screen partnership on Australian television in October 2011.
