O R G A N I S A T I O N A L P U R P O S E A N D REPoNSIBILITIES BOARD OF TRUSTEES EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT TEAM The Queensland Art Gallery Board of Trustees is the governing Mr Doug Hall body of the Queensland A r t Gallery and draws its powers from Director the Queens/and Art Ga//ery Act /987-88. The Act provides for Dr Caroline Turner Board membership of not more than nine Trustees, including Deputy Director & Manager, International Programs the following: Mr William Fleming Manager, Public Programs • the departmental head or his nominee; Mr Christopher Saines • the Director of the Queensland A r t Gallery; and Manager, Curatorial & Support Services Program (to 2 Feb.) • not more than seven members appointed by the Governor- Mr Alan Wilson in-Council on the nomination of the Minister. Manager, Administration & Finance Program Trustees are appointed for a three-year term and are eligible for CORPORATE PLAN reappointment as Trustees at the expiration of their respective Mission terms. Gamble Myer and future users Ms Hope Neill* Mrs C. Hampson Access Mr Tim North* Mr R. Hurley (Deputy Chairman) Miss V. Pidgeon To display and promote the Collection and the Gallery's facilities, Mr Doug Hall (Director) Mr P. Pike (Govt Rep.) and to provide access to exhibitions, educational programs and ex-officio Mr D. Hall (Director) interpretive services of excellence to a diversity of cultures ex-officio and publics tTo 26 June; *To 6june Exhibitions The functions of the Board of Trustees are: To develop and manage an exhibition program to the highest (a) to control, manage and maintain the A r t Gallery and art museum standards, and which extends to regional and each branch thereof and all property in the possession remote Queensland, for the benefit and enjoyment of present of the Board; and future audiences (b) to minister to the needs of the community in any or all branches of the visual arts by - Management To develop and establish an organisational culture that articulates (i) displaying works of art; (ii) promoting artistic taste and achievement through best practice throughout the Gallery's operations the illustration of the history and development of the visual arts; Advocacy (iii) promoting and providing lectures, films, broadcasts, To increase advocacy by the Board of Trustees to ensure: • the physical. human and financial resources available to the telecasts, publications and other educational or cultural Gallery enable it to achieve the Gallery's objectives instruction or material; and i • legislative amendments are made to redesignate the (iv) promoting research; (c) to control and manage all land and premises vested in or Queensland A r t Gallery to Queensland Art Museum in order placed under the control of the Board; to reflect its national and international standing (d) to restore and repair works of art in the possession of the Board; (e) to frame and package, and manufacture display materials for, works of art in the possession of the Board; and (f) subject to Part III, to raise, hold, invest and disburse funds for the performance of the aforementioned functions.
