Queensland Art Gallery Annual Report 1997-98

Protection & Services This Unit's staff provided an effective protective security function, including emergency procedures, first aid response and workplace health and safety systems, to ensure the safety and security of staff, visitors and Gallery property. Providing advice on risk management, protective security, emergency procedures and workplace health and safety issues is a key component of the services provided by the Unit. The Protection and Services Officers delivered a high level of front-of-house services to the Gallery's visitors, while maintaining a discreet security role. Officers also assisted with installing and demounting exhibitions, the mounting and framing of works, the preparation of labels, and the packing and unpacking of works of art, and provided assistance to the artisans in the workshop. Some staff attended in-house training programs where they gained the knowledge and skills to assist in these areas, and this training included safety aspects of the work, including use of equipment and manual handling techniques. Reviews of the Gallery's security and emergency systems continued throughout the year to ensure applicability for current needs and the Gallery's future expansion. -,'- .· I) -;, tt{1AAI _,,_ ¥6/> r 37
