opened The exhibition of Italian Art of the 20th Century was officially opened at the Q land National Art Gallery last night, by the Italian Vice-Consul: (Dr. M. CasteIdol. The host and hostess were the acting chairman of t he Trustees of the Gallery Mr. M. H. Herring, and Mrs. Herring. For the occasion the women guests among the 400 present. wore the smartest and (molest frocks they pos- sessed. Blue taffeta m RS. Harold Netiheim wore a blue taffeta frock splashed with lilac pink which was drawn into a hustle effect at the back. The neckline was draped. Mrs. Graeme Morris' frock was of pale grey cotton dotted with small blue roses. The bodice Was sprinkled with rhinestones, and the skirt, was permanently pleated. A very full -skirted (rocs of black pleated organza was the choice of Mrs. Robin Carrie. The skirt was banded with black lace, and the bodice was trimmed with lace motifs.
