I 1e Toowoomba Chronicle After the excitement and bustle of th_!= opening and the Commonwealth Aris Festival last year when at least eight exhibitions were mounted simultaneously, the Queensland Art Gallery is settling down to a full and comprehensive program in 1983. The program is designed to appeal to visitors of all ages. Most activities arc free of charge. Films, music, floor talks, public· lectures, educa– tion services, adult workshops, children's and teenagers' studio pro– ~ and teachers' seminars, arc all available. ~ntcrtainment will be provided every Friday. Films arc shown on the last Friday night of the month, staff present a short floor talk lit 7 p.m. 10 focus on art displayed in the gallery, This is followed by a special musical program. The Queensland Symphony Or– chestra will play in the gallery every week. Films arc shown in lb(l,Lcc, lure Theatre regularly. This ·n1'ot1th .these included "Donald Fnc\W" and . . at Sixty." The Department of · Ancient History of the Univenity, of Queensland will provide lectures to illustrate the Greek and ·Roman background to Medieval , 23 March 1983 Renaissance, and Modern Art and Architecture. These will be heard on Sunday, March 27, and on three Sundays in April. The next free public lecture, "Aspects of Australian Landscape Painting", will be given on Slltur– day, April 16, by Dr ·Gertrude Langer. Adult workshops focus on the creative use ol leisure. Al pre– sent "Sawdust and Fired Pottery" is · being held · from March 21 to 2S. The next will ~ "SUit Screen Prin– ting" which is a t~ program on April 19 and 20. There arc art classes for children . and senior classes for teenagers. ' Other six,week classes designed for · children from 12 to IS years include tuition in painting, drawing, print– making, and sculpture. The uallcry also provides a public ! reading room which is open between ' 10 a.m. and I p.m. on week days.
