She will support what promi • e • to be a very stimulatin1 di1eu11ion with colour slides. We plan to serve supper afterwards. For tho • e who missed sccin1 Anne Graham's "Twelve Months Australia" exhibition in 1976, purcha • ed by the Queensland An Gallery, the followin1 is quoted from the catalogue: "These paintin1s are modest, joyous celebrations of the ordinary; of rural productivity and natural abundance, and of simple joys of popular entenainments. They are innocent and arcadian. Certainly there is here a stron1 element of "escapism", but in a society which takes seriously only those aspects of life that are unjust, destructive and violent, they perhaps suggest an escape to reality, to the fundamental realities that have somehow managed to be trodden underfoot and ne1lected.Jn some way thisexhibition offen our lives some context, the ability to • ee ounelve1 and the thin11 we do in a positive and creative way in place of the neptive and destructive orientation which seems to dominate at present. Above all, they remind us not to take ounelvn too seriously." Since Anne Graham'• arrival in Australia in 1939 from Vienna, she has studied with eminent tutors in Australia and Italy. She has exhibited in Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Britain, Switzerland and Germany and is represented in state plleries in Melbourne, Brisbane, Penh, A11ckland, and the Vincent Price Collection, as well as many international private collections.
