KNOX, after spending $1920,392,466 this financial yea,, expects to end up with a $389,466 deficit. Receipts are estimated at $1920,003,000, only $114 million or 6.3 per cent above last )'ear. In real terms. this Is a reduction In funds and department expcn~ltures are trimmed accordingly. Nearly half the receipts - 5941 million - will be met by the Federul Government, This Includes S844 mllllon from personal <Income tax. Stnte taxation wilt earn the Government S42M50,000, Including $223 mlllton from pay-roll Im• post. Stamp duty will bring In S119 million and liquor licences S25 mlllton. Mlnlnr companies will contribute $56 million In royalties. Interest enmed will be S82 million and for ser• ,·Ices rendered, the State will earn $45 million. The railways will contribute $294 million. By lnr the largest expenditure - $472 million - wll1 go on education. It wlll cost $254 mllllon tor health services and welfare wll1 take up $41 mllllon. Executive and le~lsletlve expenditure will be 14 mlllion and the Premier's Department will take more thnn sn mllllon.
