Bulldina, Ann Street, Brisbane, is of ''Selected Acquisitions, 1979" and includes 180 works, purchased prints and drawinas, Asian an, p1inlln1s and sculpture. Focal points are the Joel Elenberg pieces pur– chased by the Queensland Gallery from the recent Philip Bacon E,r.hlbition, New Farm. Joel Elenber1 Is or Polish descent and works with Carrara marble in Italy. One totem sculpture pictured on this pqe is of white marble and rea1ures dark red bands or por– firico stone. The spectator Is immediately reminded of the influence of African carvinp on Bran– cusi's work or the period 191010 1920. A series of bronze, sin1le cast masks, also by Elcnbera, stand on black marble bases and are reminiscent or Modialiani's and Picasso's sculpture. I
