Vew from the chair: Speeches of Richard WL Austin

the Gallery has become, as today's activities indicate, the centre of cultural as well as all sorts of other activity in Brisbane; and, finally, we have begun to put together a collection of Asian art following very generous donations from Mr James Fairfax of Sydney and the late Professor Joyce Ackroyd. The past decade has been one of tremendous activity in all areas of the Gallery, and we look to the future and towards the rapidly approaching centenary of the Gallery's founding in 189S with confident anticipation. And now, ladies and gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure to ask the Premier to address us and to cut our birthday cake. 115
