The inference that Max Meldrum's painting was of little value would not be supported by any art auth- ority familiar with Mel- work. In any case, there was no need for any criticism of Meldrum's painting, as In - son and not Meldrum should have been reviewed. Mrs. Langer's remark that Mr, mean was In possession of a foolproof method of painting is too utterly rs. Are we to assume from this extraordinary remark that fools could do what In- , son has done, or are we to . believe that anyone could do what he has done? One can only think of Eliza Doo- little's words, "Not very likely." - James Wieneke, Moreton Galleries, Edward Street, Brisbane.
