Staff Some 1,400 people swept through the sparkling glass doors of the new Milwaukee Art Center wing Friday night to celebrate its long awaited inaugural gala. B u t the night really be- longed to Peg Bradley - the one who started it all with the donation of the $12 mil- lion wort I1 of modern art treasures that she collected with her late husband, Harry Lynde Bradley. "We're strangers to you, Mrs. Bradley, but we want to thank you for the most won- derful gift.. . ." "Mrs. Bradley, would you be so kind as to autograph. .11 "Mrs. Bradley, we want to say thank you.. . ." "It's so gorgeous, P e p,. . ." For her part. Mrs. Bradley admitted that she was de- lighted. "Do you really like all this modern art?" she asked one well wish e r. "Thank you, thank you. I'm having the greatest time. Peo- ple are so sincere." And always there was the commercial.
