102 APT2002 Blue-green bridge (and detail) 2000 Acrylic figures, polycarbonate sheets, steel structure 60 x 130 x 1140cm Collection: Artsonje Museum, Kyungju Courtesy: The artist and Lehmann Maupin Gallery, New York The repetition of elements is an important factor in the realisation of a substantial body of Suh's practice. Works such as Some/one 2001, Public figures 1998-2000 and Blue-green bridge 2000 all depend on it. In Some/one Suh uses thousands of individual metal army dog tags, each inscribed with a blood– type and identification number, to form a magnificent military garment - a single, central, authorial cloak. In Public figures a series of 'little people' comprises a flank on which rests an archetypal, monumental pedestal. In Blue-green bridge a mass of cast resin figures gradually changes from green to blue as it rises to become the gentle slope of a walkway leading from one end of a room to another. In all these works the individual is situated within the group; and in all of them the individual is recognisably differentiated. In this way the logic of the repetition is emphasised through difference.
