Galleries and community centres, schools and hospitals across 74 regional and remote Queensland venues participated in the Gallery’s highly popular Kids’ APT7 on Tour between January and April 2013. Kids’ APT7 on Tour featured artist projects developed especially for children and families, including Daniel Boyd’s multimedia interactive that allowed users to reveal information from a concealed image via screens of dots, a recipe shared by Malaysian artist Ise, a drawing activity using Farsi script by Parastou Forouhar, a mask‑making project by Hahan, and a short film by Tromarama in which lights and appliances come to life at night. Many venues invited local artists to facilitate workshops for children, highlighting the important role of artists in the community. Children enjoyed learning techniques to create their own comic and flip books, inspired by the Children’s Art Centre publication Hahan and Friends ; they also took home their very own activity book based on the publication. Now in its sixth year, the success of On Tour is due to the hardworking regional venue staff and volunteers who facilitate the program across the state. The enthusiasm and passion for the arts in regional Queensland communities, shown through the support of On Tour, reaffirms the importance and value of this program for these communities. kids’ aPt7 on toUr ‘The Blackwater Library has held the QAGOMA activities for kids for many years now. It’s great that we can offer the same high quality program in a small country town as children in Brisbane enjoy.’ petriNa , BLACKWATER LIBRARY (CENTRAL HIGHLANDS REGIONAL COUNCIL) 33 kids’ apt7 oN tour
