The Eighth Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art

Angela Tiatia Born 1973, Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand Looking Back 2015 Angela Tiatia is interested in objects created throughout history referencing the Pacific and its people, but which have not been made by them. For APT8 Kids, she invites children and families to explore ideas of representation and perception in a large-scale installation. Young visitors enter into spaces where they will encounter a series of unexpected views of themselves. The space creates an experience that encourages a reflection on self-perception; no matter which way they turn, viewers are unable to see their faces clearly. Instead, they find themselves looking back.
