Complementary Events The Complementary Events program will list various exhibitions and projects initiated by artists, galleries and organisations throughout Australia and planned to coincide with APT3. Major Complementary Events planned for September 1999 in Brisbane include the International Society for Education through the Arts (INSEA) 30th World Congress, which is expected to attract 1 500 international delegates, and the Second Multimedia Art Asia Pacific Festival (MAAP99). Information on these and other events will be available through the APT web site. Asia-Pacific Research Collection and Database One of the continuing strengths of the Asia-Pacific Triennial project is the commitment to ongoing research in the field of contemporary art, and to making this material (the Asia-Pacific Research Collection) available to arts and academic communities. The Asia– Pacific Research Collection exceeds 4 500 items, including indexed articles, catalogues, invitations, and CD-ROM, video and photographic documentation. Additionally, the Asia-Pacific Artists Database holds records on approximately 2 OOO artists. Support has also been received from the Commonwealth Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body. In addition, APT3 has attracted supp_ort and sponsorship from national and international foundations and corporations, including the Australia-India Council, the Australia-Indonesia Institute, the Australian Broadcasting Commission, the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games, The Japan Foundation, QANTM, NOIE, James Sourris, Singapore Airlines and Channel 10. This support is gratefully acknowledged. 'The Friends of the Asia-PacHic Triennial ot Contemporary Art' To assist in funding the development and presentation of APT3 a new group, 'The Friends of the Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art', has been established by the Gallery. The 'Friends' group will comprise supporters of the Asia-Pacific Triennial who have contributed A$1 OOO as individuals or A$5 OOO as corporations. 'Friends' will receive a range of benefits including acknowledgment in Asia-Pacific Triennial signage and publications, special functions, invitations to the official opening, and membership of the Queensland Art Gallery Foundation. Membership contributions are tax-deductible in Australia. Importantly, the appeal offers the opportunity to demonstrate support and commitment to a collaborative and dynamic Asia-Pacific region.
