Kids' APT - A collaboration
In this work, visitors were able to make their very own plane from a giant mountain of recycled and found materials. Above the mountain, formations of hundreds of small planes and other aircraft took off, flying out towards the Gibson Entrance of the Queensland Art Gallery. Sixty-five schools from across Queensland participated in the artists’ plane-making workshops held prior to the opening of APT6, creating more than 6500 planes for the final installation. Having people directly participate and engage in the actual art making will not only make people realise how important working with their hands is but also give them a situation in which to “slow down”. This is very important in our age and time . . . Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan 18
