Kids' APT - A collaboration

For Kids’ APT, Vietnamese artist Rich Streitmatter-Tran and the Children’s Art Centre organised a series of drawing workshops with children from cities near rivers in Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar. The children were asked to draw what their river meant to them and sketch their ideas about its future. Children attending Kids’ APT Summer Spectacular Festival also took part in workshops focusing on the Brisbane River, which were sent to children from the South-East Asian workshops. Perhaps most intimately, the short-term rewards of a good investment can be seen in the health of children and local water sources from which life depends. This project aimed to link children from four communities with their local rivers in a reflective drawing project, visualising their special relationship to the river. Rich Streitmatter-Tran 33
