Kids' APT - A collaboration
Hiraki Sawa’s Kids’ APT activity took inspiration from his film elsewhere 2003. Participants were invited to become the film’s director by manipulating household items using small ‘pucks’ on a movement-sensitive tabletop. The corresponding objects came to life: small silver spoons and toilet rolls sprouted legs and ran from screen to screen. Instead of me making sequences, I was letting children play with my figures and they make their own sequences or stories. So it felt like a different version. I think this kind of project triggers children’s interest and allows them to enter into the artwork more easily. Hiraki Sawa 38
